Formal Intelligence Training in Spain. The State of the Art by the End of 2025
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study analyzes the evolution of university education in intelligence in Spain, comparing the existing offerings in the 2014/2015 academic year with those of the 2024/2025 academic year. Using this time frame and a mixed methodology, the aim is to demonstrate the evolution that has taken place in this specific segment of educational offerings over the last 10 years. The study reflects a decline in academic recognition of these programs, while at the same time observing a clear shift toward private universities, which have taken advantage of their flexibility to offer specialized degrees, especially in online formats. Public universities, on the other hand, face structural and bureaucratic obstacles to integrating this type of study. Current programs lack standardization and offer diverse content, often focused on specific sectors such as cyber intelligence or economic intelligence. The study concludes that the consolidation of this field requires greater academic integration, as well as a common curriculum, more specialized faculty, and a real link to the labor market, moving away from anecdotal or purely commercial approaches.
